Patient information for the Nurses strike on 18 and 19 January
17 January 2023
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has voted in favour of strike action and have confirmed that industrial action will take place on 18 and 19 January and this will affect a small number of services at the Tavistock and Portman.
We are aiming to minimise disruption to care. If we have not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned. There may be a picket at the Tavistock Centre on the strike days, but they will not be stopping patients entering the building.
Patients whose appointments are being rescheduled are being contacted directly. If you need help for a mental health crisis or emergency you should visit our urgent help page: https://tavistockandportman.nhs.uk/care-and-treatment/urgent-help/
Call 999 if there is a life-threatening emergency. If it is not an emergency contact us as normal.
The industrial action is part of a campaign to resolve a disagreement between NHS staff and the government and is not aimed at the Tavistock and Portman. Our Board are wholeheartedly in support of fair and equitable pay for all NHS staff. We are working with the RCN around the planned industrial action and want to see a resolution as soon as possible.
