What we do

We support the emotional health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.

Our team provides child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) to children up to the age of 18 and their families, who live outside of Camden.

We are experienced in working with complex issues, for example with families where courts or other agencies are involved. We aim to ensure that all of the agencies around the child work together.

What to expect

After we have received your referral, one of our admin team will be in touch to agree a date and time for your first appointment. Most commonly this will take place at our main building on Belsize Lane, although it may be possible to meet at our outreach clinic on Bounds Green if, for example, you live in Haringey or Enfield.

The purpose of this initial assessment is to find out more about you and your family, including important events from your past and what is currently causing you difficulty, anxiety or stress. Sometimes there will be two clinicians from our team present at the initial assessment, so there is always an option to speak to someone one-to-one.

Usually, we start the session together with your parents/carers, then after introductions and hearing from everyone about what brought you here, we would speak to you and them individually, if of course you are comfortable with that. We would also finish the session all together, so that everyone is clear about what happens next. At the end of this first appointment we will agree your initial care plan, which is all about how best we can support you. 

There is some waiting involved for specific treatments (e.g. CBT, systemic family therapy, individual psychotherapy, educational psychology), but we will keep in touch with you and your family and agree to meet if your mental health needs to be reviewed.
