Susie Lendrum

Appointed December 2024 – first term

Having many years’ experience in counselling, psychotherapy, supervision and training, I am now passionate about good quality mental health services.

I have considerable experience on committees, boards, in governance and in community projects and am interested in developing the broad range of mental health services, education and training which the Trust offers, hoping to understand the challenges the Trust is currently facing.

I have experience in the development of the Registration of Therapists and would hope to collaborate constructively in this fascinating development.

Having been a university teacher, then careers adviser, I trained as a psychotherapist and have worked in universities, general practice and psychiatric hospitals et al. I trained as a supervisor with WPF, became a trainer of supervisors, subsequently set up a training course to train trainers of counsellors and directed counselling and psychotherapy and supervision training courses. I am passionate about training!

I chaired the Ethics Committee of BACP, was involved in developing its Ethical Framework and belonged to a small multi-professional group tasked with trying to develop an ethical base across the psychological professions.

After I ‘retired’, I set up and worked in a gender violence project with schools in Umlazi Township, linked to a university in Durban, SA. Returning to the UK in 2014, I moved to London and worked in the refugee sector as both therapist and supervisor or consultant.

As a mother and grandmother, I hope to bring a range of experience to the work of a governor.
