Receive appointment reminders via our patient portal
Patients at our gender identity clinic (GIC) can now receive appointment notifications and reminders through our patient portal, improving digital accessibility and improving patient involvement.
From Wednesday 28 May, patients will begin receiving alerts about their upcoming appointments through the portal. This will help reduce missed appointments and improve communication, making it easier for patients to stay informed and engaged in their care.
What’s coming next?
- Virtual consultations pilot
In July, we’ll begin piloting video consultations with four clinicians. Patients will be able to connect with their clinician through a secure video platform — a more convenient and flexible way to access care. - Full rollout
Following the pilot, we’ll expand the platform to all clinicians across the gender identity clinic, giving more patients access to virtual appointments. - Integration with the NHS App
We’re currently working through our assurance process to onboard to the NHS App, so patients will soon be able to view key information from us directly through their existing NHS App account. - Digital forms and questionnaires
We’re also developing online forms and questionnaires that can be shared with patients via the portal. Responses will be accessible for clinicians to review, improving the quality and efficiency of care.
How this helps
The patient portal is a key step in modernising our services. It will help patients take more control of their care, reduce the risk of missed appointments, and help us manage waiting lists more effectively by improving communication and reducing delays.
