  1. Please state which police force/s serve the area covered by the Trust

Not applicable.  Our service provision is not limited to operating within a defined catchment area and is not served by a single local police force, as we provide a national specialised mental health and therapy service for patients from all over the UK.  We do not provide a walk-in service, and the outpatient nature our services focusses on delivering mainly psychological services via talking therapies.  All our patients appointments are all subject to both a referral and a waiting period.

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust would not be the commissioned pathway for emergency referrals made directly by the police force or other agencies, and The Royal Free Hospital, in Hampstead, located within the vicinity of our Head Office would be the commissioned pathway for these.

We are a small specialist NHS mental health trust which does not provide acute services.  We do not have an A&E department, nor provides services for emergency and/or inpatient admissions, nor detentions under the mental health act.  The outpatient nature of the services we provide are subject to both a referral and a waiting period, we would not ordinarily receive referrals directly from the police force.

This needs-based collaborative model of care facilitates clinicians and young people to jointly decide the type of help or support they might engage with (e.g., Getting Help, Getting More Help, Risk Support).  This provides a tailored decision-making approach embodies the spirit of RCRP, placing the right type of care with the right people at the right time and level.  The framework and its implementation details can be found here: implementingthrive.org
