Provide the following information regarding Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust’s expenditure on staff uniforms:

  1. Total uniform expenditure** for the last financial year (April 2022 – March 2023) and, if available, the current financial year to date (April 2023 – present).
  2. Breakdown of uniform items purchased** (clinical and non-clinical staff), including:

a. Type of uniform items purchased (e.g., tunics, trousers, scrubs, polo shirts, jackets, etc.).

b. The number of each uniform item purchased.

c. The unit price of each uniform item.

  1. Suppliers**: A list of uniform suppliers used by the Trust.
  2. Procurement Process**: If applicable, details of any existing contracts or agreements for uniform procurement.

To assist your contextual understanding of our responses below, if would be helpful for you to be advised that The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a small specialist outpatient mental health Trust, with a focus on training and education, and not a hospital.

We provide outpatient, and mainly psychological services via talking therapies. We do not provide acute services, nor inpatient patient services, nor detention facilities, and do not have an A&E department.

As you can see therefore, our Trust does not have the need for many uniformed staff, and this is reflected in the minimal uniform purchases and spend as set out in our answers below.

  1. Total uniform expenditure** for the last financial year (April 2022 – March 2023) and, if available, the current financial year to date (April 2023 – present).

This is around £300 per annum

  1. Breakdown of uniform items purchased** (clinical and non-clinical staff), including:

a. Type of uniform items purchased (e.g., tunics, trousers, scrubs, polo shirts, jackets, etc.).

Fleece, polo shirts, jumper, trousers, and cleaners overalls

b. The number of each uniform item purchased.

These were usually single item purchases, as replacements due to wear and tear.

c. The unit price of each uniform item.

This varies between £15-£30 per item

  1. Suppliers**: A list of uniform suppliers used by the Trust.

Due to the low purchase volume we often vary our suppliers, but usually purchase from Nisbits or Amazon

  1. Procurement Process**: If applicable, details of any existing contracts or agreements for uniform procurement.

Due to the low purchase volume no contract has been entered into.  Orders are usually placed ad hoc via the internet using a corporate credit card.
