Explanatory Note:

You might find it helpful to note that the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is not a hospital, it is a small specialist mental health Trust, which does not provide acute services, nor inpatient patient services, nor detention facilities, and does not have an A&E department.

Our provision of shift cover is minimal, and we do not use dedicated software for this.  We provide certain local acute hospitals’ mental health services with shift cover by our own resident doctors (previously known as junior doctors).

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust otherwise provides outpatient clinics which operate during the day only.

We would occasionally hire locum doctors from an agency, when there is a gap in the shift/s we are committed to fill at local acute Trusts but cannot otherwise do – again we do not need dedicated software for this occasional activity.

We do not employ RCNs HCA’s, RMN or Specialist RNs. We have not hired many agency nurses (RGN’s) for at least the last few of years, and then only whilst we have a permanent vacancy. (please note that we only employ around 30 permanent nurses at any given point, and any agency nurses hired would be for the duration of any recruitment lag.

We do not use software to manage temporary staff.  This is not a centralised activity.
