Business Cases-Consultations on Doctors Reductions

Please provide copies of all internal business cases and/or workforce consultations produced or commissioned by your Trust since 1 January 2020 that involve any of the following:
- A reduction in the number of doctors employed by the Trust, either by headcount or full-time equivalence.
- A reduction in the number of doctors in any service or department, either by headcount or full-time equivalence.
- An introduction or increase in the employment of Physician Associates, either by headcount or full-time equivalence.
- An introduction or increase in the employment of Anaesthesia Associates, either by headcount or full-time equivalence.
This request includes supporting documents related to the business cases and or workforce consultations, i.e. strategic planning, service redesign, staffing models, financial assessments, and any internal or external consultation processes.

- A reduction in the number of doctors employed by the Trust, either by headcount or full-time equivalence.
Since January 2020 the Trust has made 2 doctors redundant due to the cessation of the services in which they worked.
- Gender Identify Development Service (GIDS)
GIDS service was decommissioned by NHS England with effect from 31/03/2024
- Court Assessment Team (CAT) Camden
Camden asked for the service to be repurposed
Suitable redeployment opportunities for both doctors were sought within the Trust, but due to size of our organisation and the nature of their roles, no mutually agreed suitable alternative employment was available.
The Trust confirms that there have been no other reduction of doctors by headcount or FTE.

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a small specialist NHS mental health trust with a focus on training and education, as well as providing a full range of mental health services and therapies for children and their families, young people and adults.
We provide outpatient, and mainly psychological services via talking therapies. We do not provide acute services, nor inpatient patient services, nor detention facilities, and do not have an A&E department
