International programme for psychiatrists

Postgraduate medical education welcomes psychiatrists from abroad on the International Programme for Psychiatrists.

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a varied schedule of activities including lectures, seminars, unit meetings and one-to-one discussions. This is enabled by the support and guidance of senior clinical colleagues. Visiting psychiatrists can opt for sessions in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Complex Needs or, as in most cases, they can attend meetings in both departments to provide a broader experience and knowledge of the Trust.

In terms of timeframe visiting psychiatrists can participate in the programme for a minimum of 2 weeks up to a maximum of a term (10 weeks).

The programme is for newly qualified or experienced psychiatrists from overseas - with an advanced level of English both written and verbal - who wish to enhance their professional development with a visit to the Tavistock and Portman.

Visitors need to complete the application form, provide the relevant documentation and return the form to Medical Education Manager at in the first instance. There will be an online interview and discussion with the Director of Medical Education.
