BAME student and trainee group
The BAME student and trainee group offers an opportunity for those students from a BAME background to share their experience of training at the Tavistock and Portman. The group meets twice a term and is facilitated by Laverne Antrobus. You may be in your first term or you may have been with us or a while - all are welcome to come along to share their thoughts.
The group aims to give students a space to voice their experiences and thoughts. The Group also functions as a channel for communication and feed-back between students and the Department of Education and Training. The Trust is keenly aware of the need to train mental health professionals from diverse backgrounds and of the need to listen to the experiences of current students and trainees in order to do this well.
The Trust is committed to providing an inclusive environment for trainees/students from BAME backgrounds and the need to train mental health professionals to work effectively with a diverse population.
