Watch me Play! is an intervention to support vulnerable babies and young children. Dr Jenifer Wakelyn will explore the roots of this approach in psychoanalytic infant observation and introduce a manual produced in 2019 with funding from the Tavistock Clinic Foundation.
Speaker biography
Dr Jenifer Wakelyn MA, PGCE. Doc Child Psych has worked as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and clinical supervisor in a range of services for children in care and on the edge of care. She has developed applied training for professionals working with babies and young children in care.
Her current research is on evaluating Watch Me Play!, an intervention to support vulnerable babies and young children. She is a tutor, supervisor and lecturer on our Child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy (M80) professional doctorate.

Research activities
Jennifer is principal investigator for the evaluation of ‘Watch Me Play!’ in co-ordination with parallel projects in Italy and Japan. She has supervised six completed projects and is currently supervising eight projects for the Child Psychotherapy Doctoral Research Programme.
