Trust Scientific Meeting: The THRIVE Framework: an approach to whole system transformation
Event overview
Our Trust Scientific Meetings are for staff, students and alumni.
The THRIVE Framework for system change (Wolpert et al., 2019) has gained traction since it was first published as a conceptual framework for child and adolescent mental health services in 2014 out of a collaboration between the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. The framework has been identified in a number of government papers such as the Green Paper for Transforming CYP Mental Health and the NHS Long Term Plan as a suggested framework for moving away from tier based services as it enables a revitalisation of supportive asset based approaches and whole system transformation. It emphasises the value of building on individual and community resilience, and places children, young people and their families as equal partners in the delivery of help and support. Children, young people and their families are enabled to be active decision makers in the process of choosing the right approach for them.
We are delighted to have Professor Miranda Wolpert MBE, lead author of the THRIVE Framework, joining us to present an overview. The second part of the presentation will focus on the work of the National i-THRIVE Programme, supporting sites across the country to implement the key principles of the THRIVE Framework. We will be sharing examples of how different localities, including the Tavistock and Portman, are implementing the framework. The programme is delivered through a partnership between the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and UCLPartners.
