In contemporary organisations demands from the wider environment
challenge traditional hierarchical structures and cross-functional project
systems traverse organisational boundaries. In such contexts complex
demands are made of managers and it can be difficult to know on whose
authority decisions are made. This conference is a three-day intensive
experiential development programme designed to explore the complexities of contemporary organisational systems and the question ‘on whose
authority’ we act. How can you take up your professional role in such contexts with a stronger sense of freedom and authority?
The learning from group relations conferences is relevant to people from
any professional background. The conference is designed as a temporary
organisational system in which sta and members will explore and seek to
learn from organisational behaviour as it happens.
The aim of the conference is to develop a spirit of inquiry into the dynamics of organisational life and one’s own part in these.
Topics
- the impact of others on the self and self on others
- leadership and followership
- authority and power
- delegation and representation
- lateral and vertical inter-group dynamics
- the dynamics of sub-groups who share pre-existing relationships.
