Pain management service

The pain management service helps people to manage the physical and emotional aspects of living with persistent, long-term pain.

The Tavistock and Portman provide management for the psychological therapies component of the Royal Free London’s Pain Management Services (PMS). The psychological therapies team is embedded in the pain management service and offers assessments to patients with persistent pain referred by medical professionals The team provides individual cognitive-behavioural therapy (including acceptance and commitment therapy) and group pain management programmes as part of treatment. Psychoanalytic group therapy to patients is also available where indicated.
