About the authors

Dr Michael Shaw is Co-director of the Family Drug & Alcohol Court (FDAC) National Unit and Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust. He has a longstanding interest in child mental health and the law, and evidenced-based practice.

Professor Dame Sue Bailey has worked as a Child and Adolescent psychiatrist for over thirty years. Through many roles including President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, Sue’s national health policy and research work has focused on needs assessment and risk management across health and social care.
