Dr Jenifer Wakelyn

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

Dr Jenifer Wakelyn MA, PGCE. Doc Child Psych has worked as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and clinical supervisor in a range of services for children in care and on the edge of care. She has developed applied trainings for professionals working with babies and young children in care.

Her current research is on ways of promoting psychological well-being for babies and young children in care. She is a tutor, supervisor and lecturer in the Tavistock Centre training in child and adolescent psychotherapy and teaches psychoanalytic theory and research methodology.

Principal investigator for the evaluation of ‘Watch Me Play!’- an intervention to support psychological well-being for infants and young children in care

I have supervised 3 completed projects and am supervising 8 projects for the Child Psychotherapy Doctoral Research Programme, and am supervising a project for the Professional Doctorate in Social Care and Emotional Well-Being
